Privacy Policy

Introduction

BlueSignal (“we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit bluesignal.xyz, use the BlueSignal Cloud dashboard at cloud.bluesignal.xyz, or operate BlueSignal hardware. The credit exchange at waterquality.trading has its own privacy policy.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Quote requests: Email address, location, and property details when you ask for an installation quote.
  • Site survey bookings: Name, email address, phone number, and the property address to be surveyed. Payment for the survey is taken by Stripe on Stripe’s own pages; we never see or store your card number.
  • Water Brief: First name, last name, email address, and the ZIP code you open when you read a Water Brief. We use them to send you the brief and BlueSignal water-product follow-up. The brief is built from a ZIP code; we never ask for a street address and we do not keep your coordinates if you share your location.
  • Account information: Email, name, and profile details when you create a BlueSignal Cloud account.
  • Calls and texts: If you call or text our business line, we see the number you called from and what you sent.

Information Collected Automatically

  • Device telemetry: Water quality readings (pH, TDS, turbidity, temperature, and any optional probe fitted, such as ORP), site coordinates, device health metrics, and connectivity status transmitted by WQM-1 hardware registered to your account.
  • Our own page counts: Our servers record which page path was viewed and which action was taken (for example “page view” or “quote form”), with a timestamp and your current cookie choices. This uses no cookie and no identifier of any kind: no IP address, no browser fingerprint, no account. Record identifiers in a URL (a device or site id) are replaced before anything is sent. It cannot be linked to you.
  • Server logs: Our hosting and cloud providers keep short-lived request logs (IP address, browser type, requested URL) for security and reliability.
  • Google Analytics — only if you allow it: Page views and interaction data. Off until you turn on Analytics in Cookie preferences, and not loaded at all unless it is configured for the site.

How We Use Your Information

  • To answer quote requests and carry out site surveys.
  • To provide the BlueSignal Cloud dashboard and alert you about your equipment.
  • To send booking confirmations, receipts, and equipment notices.
  • To improve our products and services.
  • To detect and prevent fraud or security incidents.

Weather and storm notices

For each monitoring site, our servers fetch forecasts and active weather alerts from the U.S. National Weather Service using the site’s coordinates, so we can show conditions on the site page and email you when the NWS issues a warning for that location. The NWS receives the coordinates and our contact address, not your identity.

Share links

If you create a share link for one of your sites, anyone holding the link can see that site’s readings and recent trend. The link shows no address, no name, and no contact details, and you can revoke it from the site page at any time.

Third-Party Services

We use the following services to operate our platform:

  • Firebase (Google Cloud): Authentication, database, hosting, and the server functions behind the site.
  • Cloudflare: CDN, DNS, DDoS protection, and Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookieless page-view count that stores nothing on your device.
  • Resend: Delivers our transactional and follow-up email.
  • Stripe: Payment processing for surveys and hardware. Stripe collects your payment details directly under its own privacy policy.
  • OpenStreetMap: Map tiles on site and device pages are loaded by your browser from OpenStreetMap’s tile servers, which see your IP address and the map area requested.
  • National Weather Service: Forecasts and alerts, as described above.
  • Google Analytics — only if you allow analytics.
  • Meta (Facebook/Instagram) and Reddit advertising pixels — only if you allow advertising: Used only to show BlueSignal ads to people who have already visited this site. These pixels record that a browser viewed a page or completed a step (for example, requested a quote or booked a site survey). We do not send your name, email address, phone number, property address, or anything you typed into a form to either network.

These services may process your data as described in their respective privacy policies. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Cookies, local storage, and how to change your choices

Strictly necessary storage (your sign-in session and your cookie choices) is always on. Analytics and advertising are off until you turn them on, and continuing to browse is not treated as consent. The first-visit notice closes once you scroll; that closes the notice and turns nothing on. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal we treat it as a refusal of both, and neither can be switched on. Use Cookie preferences — the link in the footer of every page, and the button below — to allow or withdraw either at any time. The preference is stored in this browser, so it is per device, and clearing your site data clears it too.

Follow-up emails

If you request a quote or reserve a site survey and then don’t complete it, we may send you at most two follow-up emails about it. Every one carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops them immediately. Messages you asked for — a booking confirmation, a reply to your own question, a storm notice for your equipment — are not affected.

Data Retention

  • Account data: Retained while your account is active and deleted on request, except where we must keep a record by law.
  • Device telemetry: Retained while the device is registered to an account so your history stays available in the dashboard. Readings older than a year may be moved to archival storage.
  • Quote and survey data: Retained while we fulfil and follow up on the request, then as an ordinary business record.
  • Page counts: Contain no identifier and are kept in aggregate.
  • Google Analytics data: Only collected if you allowed it; retained under the retention setting of our Google Analytics property.

Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data.
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format.
  • Opt out of marketing communications.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@bluesignal.xyz. We will verify the request and respond within the time applicable law allows.

Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (TLS), secure authentication, and access controls. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
